At Travelgenix, we're always keen to spot the latest trends in travel, and this holiday season, AI-powered trip planning is taking center stage. Recent research from GuideGeek, an AI-powered travel assistant company, has highlighted a fascinating shift in travel behaviours. According to a survey conducted by Matador Network, involving 1,200 travellers, more than a quarter are planning to use AI for their holiday trip planning.
This shift towards AI in travel planning is not just a fleeting trend. A significant 64% of respondents have either already used AI for travel research and planning or intend to in the future. This data underscores a growing reliance on technology to streamline the travel planning process, making it more efficient and tailored to individual preferences.
Ross Borden, CEO of Matador Network, points out the holiday season is often the busiest time of year, especially when travel is involved. AI tools like GuideGeek are becoming invaluable for time-saving and convenience. Imagine planning your entire holiday vacation, from selecting a destination to booking flights and hotels, and even making dinner reservations, all swiftly and seamlessly. That’s the promise AI brings to modern travellers.
The adoption rate of travel AI is notably high, with 79% of those who have used it before indicating they're likely to use it again for holiday planning. Moreover, 15% of travelers who haven’t tried travel AI are considering giving it a go this holiday season. This trend is even more pronounced among budget-conscious travelers, with 85% of those who use travel AI as a budgeting tool planning to utilise it for their holiday trips.
Borden adds a sentimental note, highlighting that for many, the holidays are about revisiting hometowns or travelling to see family and friends. Over time, places change – the familiar diner might close, or new venues might open. AI tools not only assist in crafting customised itineraries but also in rediscovering familiar places with fresh eyes.
At Travelgenix, we believe in the power of technology to enhance travel experiences. The rise of AI in holiday travel planning is a testament to how technology can make travel more accessible, personalised, and enjoyable. As we embrace these new trends, we look forward to seeing how AI continues to transform the way we explore the world.
